From Regent Street to Chinatown
I have a sort of loose new years resolution where I vowed to carry Big Camera around with me every time I step out of the house. My original idea of “taking photos everyday” just felt a tad bit unrealistic to me and I don’t like to set myself up for failure, at least in that way.
After not taking any photos for several weeks, I just tried to see what the day brought me. What am I actually seeing out here in the city? Quite a lot actually! At many instances, I was thinking “oh that would be a great shot” and just,... didn’t take the photo.
It feels like a muscle you have to continuously exercise- the spur of the moment shot, weighing whether it actually is worth taking the photo. It all matters.
In reevaluating 1) how I take photos, 2) the volume at which I take them, and 3) when, I’ve decided to approach my social media in a different way this year: more documentation, less perfectionism.
Not everything is going to be perfect, for example, this blurry photo I tried to get with low shutter speed when two buses were crossing. I was moving too quickly, not steady enough. I was sloppy with the motion blur. But still, I actually *like* this photo. I celebrate the imperfections this year as well.

I hope to blog the experience of every time Big Camera and I are out. I would like my thoughts to be elsewhere other than an app that can go away at any moment.
