The Quiet Work of Time

In Canterbuy.

There’s something I like about being in the midst of activity, then honing in on a relatively unassuming focal point.

A bustling historic English town street lined with charming timber-framed buildings, colourful bunting, flower-filled shopfronts and busy pedestrians enjoying a sunny day.

In this instance, I found it quite charming to see a painter touch up the numbers on this historic building, a practice I’m sure has continued along this street for centuries.

A shopfront painter in Canterbury stands on a ladder lettering a traditional English building, surrounded by colourful hanging flower baskets, a French flag and the Café St. Pierre sign.

Buildings may change, streets evolve, and generations come and go. Yet someone still has to pick up a paintbrush and keep things looking as they should.

It just goes to show- the more things change, the more things stay the same.
